Verkiezingen in Kosovo (Engelstalig)

Free and fair elections will pave way to EU-integration

Ulrike Lunacek , EP-Rapporteur on Kosovo, Greens/EFA Group's Spokesperson on Foreign Affairs and member of the EP`s election observation delegation which is arriving in Pristina today, calls upon citizens to go and cast their votes and urges Kosovo authorities to ensure a free and fair electoral process in the upcoming elections to be held on Sunday, December 12th:

"As part of the EP delegation I am encouraging the people of Kosovo of all ethnic backgrounds to participate in these elections and demonstrate Kosovo's strengthened democratic culture and the will of citizens to shape their country's future. Free and fair elections will be crucial for Kosovo's EU integration process, therefore the EU is showing its strong interest and support. Kosovo Authorities must ensure that the first general elections in Kosovo after independence meet international standards, making sure that every citizen's vote in this election will count."

The EP delegation consists of 7 MEPs and will hold a press conference in the course of Monday, December 13th, during the morning.
