Madrid train blasts:

Greens condemn brutal terrorist attacks

Daniel Cohn-Bendit and Monica Frassoni, Co-Presidents of the Green/EFA Group in the European Parliament strongly condemned the devastating terrorist attacks at Madrid train stations this morning. They said:

"We are deeply shocked by the brutal attacks this morning. They show an utter contempt for human life. We extend our deepest condolences to the families of the victims."

"The attacks, on the eve of elections to the Spanish parliament, are aimed at the heart of democracy. We express our solidarity with all democrats in Spain during this dark hour, and assure them that such horrifying deeds well never be able to shake the foundations of democracy in their country."

"There is no political cause which can justify the murder of innocent people or the use of violent terrorist tactics."
